What are the most common accident claims?

Road traffic accident claims

According to figures from the Department for Transport,157,630 people were injured in UK road traffic accidents during 2019. We deal with accident claims for all types of road traffic injury. Plus, there were more than 69,000 injuries reported by employers under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) in the same period. RIDDOR is part of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and was introduced in 2013.

How much compensation could I receive when I claim for an accident?

The Judicial College is part of the Ministry of Justice and it sets the guidelines for how much compensation you could be awarded for all types of personal injury. We use them to help value your accident claim, but they are just for guidance. The final damages you could be awarded will depend on your injury circumstances. Can I make a no win no fee accident claim?

Yes, you can make a no win no fee claim with us. This means that there aren't any hidden costs that you have to pay. Your solicitor may need to take out special legal protection insurance for you, which pays the costs if your claim fails, and ensures claiming is risk free. The cost of this is only taken if you win your case.  You'll never have to pay anything upfront and there are no hidden charges, so you'll never be out of pocket. We'll check to see if you do have appropriate legal protection insurance and if you don't, we'll arrange it for you.

If you win your claim, your solicitor will typically make the following deductions from the compensation you are awarded:

• A ‘success fee' for winning the claim.
• The other side will usually be required to make a payment towards your legal costs -  and expenses but any shortfall may also be deducted from your compensation.
• The cost of the premium for any legal protection insurance you may have needed to ensure your claim is risk free.

You keep the rest and this will always be the majority of the compensation awarded to you. The deductions we list above will only be made when your compensation is paid. There are no upfront costs and no hidden charges.

Is there a time limit when claiming for an accident?

Yes, there is a time limit. In most cases, you can make an accident claim up to three years after the incident happened. If you were under 18 at the time of your injury, you have three years from your 18th birthday until your 21st to claim for an accident.

If you have suffered a serious brain injury that has compromised your psychological functions and you cannot therefore claim personally as a result, there are no time limits on a claim.
